We have a school model designed around results!
More Time, More Attention
We have a longer school day (7:30am to 3:30pm).
This gives us time to ensure all students have a strong foundation in math and literacy AND leaves time for science, social studies, art, music etc.
Students learn best when lessons are designed for them.
We have more teachers than classes, which allows for more small group instruction. This provides opportunities during the day for each child to practice at their level - whether they are behind, on grade level, or advanced.
Online learning maximizes student practice.
While two groups of students are working with teachers, another group of students is on computers using adaptive and engaging programs to practice at their level.
Stellar Collegiate teachers specialize in the content they teach.
Instead of having one teacher who is responsible for teaching reading, writing, spelling, grammar, social studies, science, and math - Stellar Collegiate students have three teachers, who teach what they love, and what they know best.
Together, this group of three teachers work together to make sure students succeed.
Students spend half their day in their literacy class and half their day in their math & research (science and social studies) class. Their third teacher pushes in to teach small groups, and also teaches specials (music, art, p.e., Spanish etc.)
Teacher Specialization supports students AND teachers!
Specialized teachers provide targeted instruction that supports students to succeed. Teachers have the chance to become experts in their content and (hopefully) stay at Stellar Collegiate for a long time.
Our students have a BRIGHT future ahead of them!
We have chosen the BRIGHT values to form the foundation of our character development program. Students are taught to demonstrate: Bravery, Respect, Integrity, Generosity, Hard Work, and Tenacity in all they do.
Every morning at Morning Motivation, we focus on one of our core values. We discuss what it means for students to demonstrate this value inside and out of school. Students are recognized for showing BRIGHT values by staff and their fellow students.
BRIGHT Values drive our Teacher Culture too.
Our character education program is only as strong as the adults who lead it. We look for teachers and staff who live by the BRIGHT values to model for our students what success looks like.
