The Network Will Provide a High-Quality K-12 Option for Milwaukee Families

MILWAUKEE, February 11, 2019 – Beginning in July 2019, Stellar Collegiate Charter School will join the Carmen Schools of Science and Technology network, providing a high-quality K-12 option for families.

Stellar Collegiate, in its third year of operations, has already created a strong track record of results in student achievement and staff retention.  Beginning in the 2019-20 school year, Stellar will be known as Stellar Elementary.  By joining the Carmen network, Stellar Elementary will retain the strong education program it has already built and connect its families and students to a powerful 6-12 continuum to fulfill its mission of placing every student on the path to college and creating futures bright with opportunity.

“Joining the Carmen network helps us fulfill the promise we make to our families. We prepare students for the expectations of Milwaukee’s highest performing middle and high schools. Stellar families can feel secure knowing their students are prepared to move onto Carmen, one of the strongest middle and high school networks in Wisconsin,” says Melissa McGonegle, Founder & School Director at Stellar Collegiate. McGonegle will serve as the Chief Schools Officer Elementary in the Carmen Network, in addition to remaining the leader of the first campus for the time being.

Carmen Schools of Science and Technology started in 2007 It currently operates three high schools and two middle schools in Milwaukee, WI serving approximately 1,675 students. Carmen’s mission is to graduate all students as critical thinkers and self-directed learners who are prepared for success in college, meaningful careers, community involvement, and family life.

Stellar Collegiate opened doors in 2016. Currently located in the Walker’s Square neighborhood, Stellar Collegiate currently serves 150 students. Through rigor, structure, and joy, Stellar Collegiate places every child on the path to college and equips all K to 5 students to succeed in middle school, gain access to selective high schools, and create futures bright with opportunity.
